Format War Over: Toshiba Resigns HD-DVD
Toshiba has officially given up on HD-DVD, making the format war finally over. So if you've been waiting to buy until there was a clear victor, there is now one. However, Blu-ray will be releasing it's newer series disks soon, which will not work on players which do not have access to an update system(everything except a PS3). The real question is, do people even want an HD format? or are they happy with DVDs and downloadable content? It seems like Blu-ray has a steep hill to climb, and I'm not too sure I care if it ever gets to the top...

In a different report, it looks like the previous information about Vista SP1 write times to external USB devices could be wrong. Adrian Kingsley-Hughes, a writer for ZD-net, has been taking some time with SP1 and has written a blog post about transfer times. Also Mark Russinovich wrote a more detailed piece on the changes within SP1 specifically. I hope this is really the case, improved performance is always good!

Vista Service Pack 1 Performance
With Vista just over a year old, Microsoft is set to release Service Pack 1. It looks like a lot of bugs have been fixed, including the terribly slow disk-writing problems. However, it looks as though a new problem has emerged, as SP1 is 50% slower than the original version when writing to USB devices. Most of the update doesn't seem to be much different, but hopefully it will resolve some of the more serious issues with the platform.

AGEIA to be Purchased by Nvidia
Is this a wise choice for Nvidia? I think that Nvidia could benefit greatly from some of the technology AGEIA has created, but only if they integrate it all onto one chip...the separate physics cards that AGEIA produces have yet to gain serious traction with gamers.

Ever had a hard time finding a mouse that feels just right? Well this mouse lets you mold it to basically any shape you so desire. I think this product is absolutely brilliant in concept, but fear that someone with a strong grip would have a hard time having it keep its shape...
This is a really cool video of some hands-free pointing and software manipulation. I hope they start implementing this kind of technology very soon! Here's a link to the official website of the company behind it.
